Yes I read a lot of fishing articles, and have found that most only concentrate on catching trophies. I started writing some articles of my own mostly on what works for me and my family. In that last sentence the last

word is what I will be focusing on in this article, and is by far the only reason that I fish as much as do! There are way too many people that only fish to catch the “Big One” while catching a big fish is a lot of fun if that is all you focus on you are missing out on most of the fun that is fishing! Believe it or not I did not really get started into fishing until I was a grown adult in the military and moved to Florida. When my family, and I moved to Florida my wife Jessie started twisting my arm to go fishing she has fished all of her life! Well I said why not, and as soon as I caught my first fish a monster was created! While I have to admit that I fish at least 5 days a week I almost never go alone Jessie or Kaleb one is normally by my side!

Just catching fish

Just catching fish

I have seen, and used to be guilty myself of taking my fishing far too serious if you want to zap the fun out fishing take this approach! I have personally changed my approach to keep fishing fun! When all you are worried about is catching that next big fish are you really worried about what your kids are catching, or how much fun they are having doing it? You should be! We often go fishing where I know the bites will be numerous; though we may not catch a monster at least we will stay busy catching fish all day! There really isn’t anything that makes me smile more than hearing my son yell at the top of lungs “BOOYAH FISH ON!” and he yells every time he hooks up no matter the size of the fish!

I’m here to tell I never caught so many big fish in fresh water as I did last year when I just flat out quit trying, and started having fun while I was fishing again. I quit worrying about all the technical aspects, and just started fishing for the fun of it again and probably had one the best years fishing I have every had! Please especially when fishing with kids just relax and have fun and let the fish come to you!

Having a good day with the entire family catching fish is the most rewarding kind of fishing I have ever done! I have had many people ask me to co-angle in tournaments, and I just flat out refuse because that is not why I fish! Starting fishing just to fish, and you will find it will become even more enjoyable than it was before! Just relax have fun, and TIGHT LINES EVERYONE!
