Witness The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Hayes High School gets jolly in their showing of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on December 13th & 14th at 7:30pm at Hayes High School directed by Mr. Brad Faust and Ms. Dara Gillis. Tickets will be on sale $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

I did some talking with sophomore and active stage crew member Morgan Knight about what she had to say about this one hour production.

“The show is about this group of naughty kids, The Herdman’s, that go and try out for the Christmas pageant at the church”, Knight said. “I would say this show is super cute and short so it makes it perfect for all ages to see and get ready for the holidays that are right around the corner.” There are also many Christmas carols featured throughout this production.

Some of Hayes’s finest and most active drama members have taken on some of the more major roles in this production. “Megan Rodgers plays Beth, a ten-year-old daughter to the pageants director who is also the narrator”, Knight shared. There’s also freshman Grace Floring who “plays her mother, Grace, who is directing the pageant.” Senior Caleb Adams and Dryden Heeter play the Herdmans along with Helen Thomson, Taylor Thompson, Clifford Heidebrecht, and Jillian Reed. Knight thinks the audience will be sure to enjoy the “acting skill this show portrays, we have seen teenagers acting like little kids, which you don’t usually see much of.”

A lot of people who people behind the scenes have made great contributions to this production. Parent Linda Hurley helps out with all the costuming “and if you want high school big help, it would be Tori DeProspero for all her hard work in lighting”, Knight said. “And Hannah Pohlman for overseeing everything as a whole and making sure crew is all coming together.”

The cast and crew have worked very hard in putting this show together. “We pulled this show together in about 5 weeks, including breaks”, Knight said.

“This show is a quick and cute show!” said Knight, “It has been a blast to work with the actors and crew yet again, they’re like a second family and this show has made us even closer.”

This production was originally a play by Barbara Robinson with special permission granted by Samuel French Inc. If you have younger children or are just looking for a fun, holiday family activity, come support these talented Hayes actors and crew members in the production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
