Main Street Delaware’s First Friday Petwalk In Pictures.

delawareo.com

Downtown Delaware, Ohio went to the Dog’s last Friday Night for Main Street Delaware’s Petwalk. The City of Delaware was out with their BIG TRUCKS and cool equipment, and let the kids climb all over. Dog’s EVERYWHERE having a good time sniffing, eating, drinking, and…. well doing what dogs do out doors.

Talking with the Director of Main Street Delaware, Frances Jo Hamilton, they will be closing off parts of Sandusky Street for this event in the future, which seems to work well!

Main Street Delaware Encourages Public to ‘Meet’ the Organization in Casual Setting

DELAWARE, Ohio – Many local residents know Main Street Delaware as the group behind the monthly downtown First Friday events, but now the community is invited to learn all that happens behind the scenes of the nonprofit organization.

“Main Street, Beer, Pizza! Get to Know Us” provides an opportunity to see the many ways people can get involved and directly support their downtown.

“If you’ve always wanted to be more involved in supporting Delaware’s vital and vibrant downtown, this is your chance to learn more and find a fit that’s right for you,” said Frances Jo Hamilton, executive director of Main Street Delaware.

Main Street Delaware is a volunteer organization powered by working committees, including Organization, Promotions, Design, and Business Enhancement. Representatives from each committee will be present to explain their function and how their volunteers are utilized, as well as their major projects over the course of the year.

“Main Street, Beer, Pizza!” meetings take place quarterly. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Main Street Delaware office, 20 E. Winter St. Refreshments will be provided, and the introduction will last an hour. The last session of 2014 will occur Tuesday, Dec. 9, also at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Street Delaware office.

wpid-img_770765793774.jpegDowntown Event to Feature Pet Walk, Teen Area, and Public Works Equipment Display

Delaware, Ohio – Main Street Delaware’s Sept. 5 First Friday celebration will feature the third annual downtown pet walk, a hands-on display of public works equipment, and a new teen area featuring a DJ.

Registration is available now for the pet walk, sponsored by Frontier Communications. The cost is $10 per pet, which nets the pets (and their parents) a treasure map to downtown businesses providing special treats along with a doggie bag to collect their loot. The pet walk will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., stepping off from the Main Street Delaware office at 20 E. Winter St., Delaware.

As they check-in, registered pets will be photographed for posting in a Main Street Delaware Facebook album. The pet receiving the most “likes” will be named the “Furry Marshal” of Main Street Delaware’s Nov. 23 Christmas Parade.

Pet walk registration will be limited to the first 100 animals. Registration is available now at Button Up, 29 N. Sandusky St.; on the night of the event at the Main Street Delaware office; or online at www.mainstreetdelaware.com.

The City of Delaware Public Works Department also will be downtown for the Sept. 5 First Friday event. Children will be able to see some of the department’s equipment, and maybe help with using a back loader and dump truck to move some dirt.

New for September’s First Friday is a teen area hosted by the William Street Lighthouse Youth Program. The teen area will offer free food, dancing, and games. In addition, DJ Matt Ryan will provide music and entertainment for the evening. All are welcome!

Who do you know in these pictures?

It was a wonderful evening to be out for Main Street Delaware’s First Friday “Picnic with the Cops.” I think the best was the kids “Police Academy” where they had to leave the squad car, run a course, and take out some cups with a water pistol. Something I found odd, the long line to “Dunk a Cop” (no pun intended).
