Last Wednesday (June 18, 2014) we held our usual third Wednesday meetup. These meetings are held so local business people and those active in local social media can come together in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Our June meeting concluded our three months at Barley Hopsters. We would like to thank Brian for allowing us to use his new party room and for Chris who gave us a few short talks on what selections are offered at this fine local establishment. I encourage anyone who has not been inside to stop in and look around next time you are at the North West corner of William and Sandusky Streets.

We do thank all who attended!

The next quarter we are in for a real treat! Steve and Sandi Weddington, owners of the Blend of Seven Winery will be our hosts. The next three dates are July 16, August 20 and September 17. We meet from 6 to 8 pm. We are also arranging for a food cart to be there each night.

Did you miss Delaware, Ohio’s PREMIER Networking Event? Here is what you missed.

If you were not able to attend…

image you missed over two hours of local networking and great food afterwards. Even thought the County Fair was going on, we held our third Wednesday event to keep the momentum going. 17 people attended and we had a wide mix from business, manufacturing, health care, insurance, graphic arts, non-profit and one recent OWU graduate seeking a career. (Please contact me if anyone has an entry level job lead for a biology and chemistry major.)

Thank you Shannon for the great service!

We finished our three months at Amato’s and would like to thank Craig and Brad for their gracious hosting. Our special server for the evening was Shannon and she worked hard to keep all of us in both food and beverage.  We rotate among different downtown restaurants every three months and are close to working out arrangements with our next host.

After networking for about 45 minutes we had a planned business card drawing. (I go around the room collecting business cards and ask for an on the spot donation from the business person.) This is fun because we never know what will happen and everyone loves to win something. Rob Rehm of Redde Hedde Farms donated 6 organically grown tomatoes, Toby Boyce donated a Pacer card and www.DelawareO.com donated a 6 month classified ad. Congrats to our respective winners Iftekhar Showpnil, Adrianne Benson and David Ayscue.

image Business presentations were done by Jim Roesch of Creative Financial Insurance, Toby Boyce of Triumph Realty and Rocky VanBrimmer of www.DelawareO.com . Two special announcements followed. Suzanne Pingry of Connections shared information on “Make a Difference Day Ohio.” Go to http://connectionsvolunteercenter.org/events/ for full details on this October 26th event. And Rob Rehm announced a craft beer tour event that is happening on October 24th. It will include visits to Barley Hopster’s, Vito’s Wine Bar and Staas.  This event will be posted on the DelawareO website as details become available and their Facebook page (search craft beer tour).

We already have one sponsor for the October meeting. Please contact me if you are interested in being an addition sponsor or if you’d like to donate a gift for the business card drawing. Message me at sevanko@delawareo.com .

We meet again on Wednesday, October 16th from 6 to 8 pm. Reserve the date…no excuses to miss this one!

I <3 DelOh cake by JACI Cakes!

I <3 DelOh cake by JACI Cakes!

You missed two and one half hours of local networking, food, fun and idea sharing. Over 23 people found refuge from the warm August evening and threatening thunderstorms to attend last night at Amato’s.

When was the last time you had a “wow” experience? Mine was last night. One of our sponsors, Just a lot of Cake and Icing supplied a custom cake for the event. We sent Jaci Roesch a copy of the DelawareO logo and she put it on the cake. (I have no artistic ability, so this talent always amazes me.)  The cake was moist and the icing was perfect! I highly recommend Jaci… contact her for your special order –  https://www.facebook.com/JACIcake or call (740) 272-2692.

Waiting for the drawing of who won the free ad!

Additional thanks to our second sponsor…Lechner Dental Group –  1860 Castleton Way,
Delaware. Phone-  740-363-8240  info@lechnerdentalgroup.com

After networking for 1 hour we had a business card drawing. (This kind of just happened as I started going around the room collecting business cards in a bucket asking if anyone had items to donate.) Dave Carman (Emerson Network Power) donated a bottle of wine. Dale Matheny of Aire Serv (614) 203-9179 donated a heating and air conditioning inspection. And in a moment of uncontrolled spontaneity, Rocky Vanbrimmer of http://www.DelawareO.com donated a one year premium space banner ad on the website! Congrats to our respective winners Rob Gligora, Bryan Cooper and Dusty Hostutler.

Thank you Nate for doing a GREAT Job of taking care of us.

Thank you Nate for doing a GREAT Job of taking care of us.

Our special server for the evening was Nate and he did an excellent job supplying us with both food and beverage.

We have one sponsor for the September meeting (Creative Financial Insurance). Please contact me if you are interested. Also, if you’d like to donate a gift for the business card drawing, let me know sevanko@delawareo.com  – these are exciting and fun…everyone loves to win something!

We meet again on Wednesday, September 18th from 6 to 8 pm at Amato’s. See you next month!
