BREAKING: Strand Theatre Temporarily Closed

Strand TheatreDelaware’s historic Strand Theatre has been in operation since 1916. And every once in a while the old girl shows a little tweak of her age.

On Saturday, it was announced that the Strand Theatre will be closed through Tuesday due to a boiler issue which has left the facility with no heat.

“We will not know the damage until Monday when they check on the parts,” said Strand Manager Kara Long. “Some pipes froze going to the boiler and caused damage to the boiler is all I know right now.”

The HVAC professionals will be in on Monday to assess the situation. Hopefully the old girl gets some good news because Downtown Delaware isn’t the same with her dark.
