ORANGE TOWNSHIP — U.S. 23 was closed Monday in the southern portion of Delaware County after a crash led to a truck explosion.
It happened just before 2:30 p.m. along U.S. 23 between Home Road and Orange Road. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the 2-vehicle crash caused a semi carrying hydrogen fuel to explode.
Video provided by the Ohio Department of Transportation shows the explosion in the distance.
The southbound lanes of 23 were closed at Home Road. The northbound lanes were closed at Orange Road. Traffic remains restricted in the area.
The Delaware County Engineer’s office said the explosion damaged traffic signals at 23 and Orangepoint Drive.
Drivers traveling between Delaware and Columbus should consider an alternate route.
