POWELL, Ohio — Three people are facing charges after police say they used a stolen truck to steal a trailer from a Powell construction site.
According to court documents, Columbus police officers were following the trio as they entered Delaware County in a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The Columbus officers witnessed the truck pull into a construction site along the 7600 block of Liberty Road.
Police said the the driver got out of the truck and cut the lock on the gate. The driver and a passenger then hooked a trailer up to the truck and left, according to police.
Powell Police stopped the truck a short time later and found that it had been reported stolen out of Columbus. The value of the trailer was reported to be around $12,000. Both truck and trailer were returned to their respective owners.
Eric Collier, 46 and David Hester, 45, were charged with felony theft. Joey Smith, 45, was charged with complicity to theft. Collier and Smith are being held on a $75,000 bond. Hester’s bond is $50,000.
