DELAWARE, Ohio — A Delaware man is facing a breaking and entering charge after a break-in at a Delaware Del-Co Drive Thru.
Delaware police were sent to 112 East Central Avenue around 7 a.m. Sunday when the business’ alarm system went off. Police found that the door of the business had been forced open. A hammer was used to break in, according to police.
A responding officer said he heard noises from the south door of the building, according to a criminal complaint. The officer said he then saw a man run from that door. That man was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Cody Ryan Taylor, was found with socks over his hands and $250 in rubber banded cash when he was arrested, according to court documents. Police say Taylor admitted the cash was from the store. Taylor allegedly told police a relative dropped him off at the store.
Prosecutors say Taylor left behind additional items worth $2,792.03. Those items included cash, cigarettes and alcohol.
Taylor was booked at the Delaware County Jail Sunday, with an initial court appearance scheduled for Monday afternoon. Prosecutors are asking for bail of $25,000 due to a past criminal record.
