LEWIS CENTER, Ohio — A man was able to track down his own stolen car, trapping the suspect in a parking space at a Lewis Center gas station.
Deputies were called to the Turkey Hill gas station on Green Meadows Drive in Lewis Center on February 23. When they arrived, they found a 27-year-old man blocking a car from behind, and another man standing by the driver’s side door. The suspect was still inside the car, with the keys in the ignition.
The man told deputies he had just spotted his car, which was stolen the day before. He tracked the car to the Turkey Hill and blocked it in.
The suspect told police the car belonged to his girlfriend, but vehicle registration documents confirmed the car belonged to the other man.
Deputies had trouble identifying the suspect. They say he refused to cooperate and was combative at times. Deputies described him as shaking and sweating. A medic was called to transport him to Grady Memorial Hospital.
The suspect was eventually identified and charged with receiving stolen property.
