NACHO Street Band to Ignite Jazz On Lincoln with Infectious Party Atmosphere with an Evening of Tuba-Driven Party Music.
Delaware, Ohio – Get ready for an evening filled with infectious rhythms and vibrant melodies as the NACHO Street Band takes the stage at Jazz On Lincoln on June 16th, 2023. The Jazz On Lincoln Concert Series, which first began in 2020, has become a highly anticipated event in the Central Ohio Music Scene. This unique musical gathering was born out of the 2019-2020 Coronavirus Pandemic, offering a safe and enjoyable open-air environment for local jazz musicians and music lovers alike.
Korey Black and Abby Wimbiscus Black, the driving forces behind the concert series, are thrilled to present another season of spectacular live jazz music. Their family home, located off Lincoln Avenue in Delaware, Ohio, serves as the venue for this vibrant celebration of music. As the series’ organizers, Korey and Abby are dedicated to bringing the joy of jazz to the community.
“Our series really started out of necessity during the pandemic,” says Wimbiscus Black. “Both my husband and I teach music in the schools, and by summer 2020, we found ourselves really missing performance opportunities that were shut down for safety’s sake. My husband Korey performed a few times that summer from our front yard for neighbors. Heading into the next year, we opened the series up to a variety of local jazz groups, and since 2021, we have regularly hosted about 8 bands on various Fridays throughout the summer. We really have a blast hosting it but are thankful not only for our pretty awesome neighbors and bands but also for everyone who attends because the concert community depends on all of us! Our biggest audience has been about 250 people.”

The NACHO Street Band, known for their energetic performances and infectious party atmosphere, is set to captivate the audience at Jazz On Lincoln. Comprised of staff, families, and friends from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the band aims to raise awareness and funds for the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio. Their belief in the healing power of music has led them to utilize their talents to provide a positive distraction from stress and worry for patients, families, and the wider community.
Martin Williams, the director of the NACHO Street Band, emphasizes their mission by stating, “Our current project is 100k over 3 years to help with the expansion of the Ronald McDonald house. When it’s done, it’ll be the biggest in the country and serve over 2k additional families each year.” Williams further adds, “We like to say that music is medicine. If you bring a smile to even one person, the impact you can make on their day can make all the difference in the world. Sometimes when we play for families at the Ronald McDonald house, they’re having some very difficult times. That little break we give can make all the difference.”
With their distinctive blend of brass band party tunes, NACHO Street Band promises an evening of joyous celebration. Their music draws inspiration from a diverse range of genres, including New Orleans jazz, funk, Latin, and pop. To which Williams affectionately refers to their music as “tuba-driven party music.”
The NACHO Street Band, extends an open invitation to anyone who would like to play future gigs with them. Williams (who I must admit is a long time friend of mine) even invited me to sit in with them and play my baritone at the Friday night gig, despite my protest that I haven’t practiced in over a year. Williams overcame my protest by telling me “you will have company on your part. playing with the band, it’s not about being great. It’s about sharing your love with the audience.” A true testament to the band’s inclusive and welcoming nature to its musicians.
Beyond the enjoyment of the performance, attendees at Jazz On Lincoln can contribute to a meaningful cause. NACHO Street Band is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and all tips received during the concert will be donated to their fundraising campaign for the Ronald McDonald House. The band’s commitment to raising awareness and supporting the Ronald McDonald House’s expansion showcases their dedication to making a lasting impact in the community.
The concert will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 77 W Lincoln Ave in Delaware, Ohio. Jazz lovers and supporters of the NACHO Street Band are encouraged to attend this joyous celebration of music for a good cause. Whether you’re a seasoned jazz aficionado or someone looking for a delightful evening of entertainment, Jazz On Lincoln promises to be an event that will leave you tapping your feet and humming along to the infectious beats. “We saw an opportunity to spread our music to a new audience; we’ve never played in Delaware before,” remarks Williams.
