Delaware County Ohio Power Outages Prompts Local Organizations to Open Its Doors for Heat.

AEP Ohio website states 663 local customers are without power in Delaware County Ohio as of 10:30 am Monday, January, 6 2014. DelawareO readers on Facebook and Twitter have reported the outages in the neighborhoods of Troy Farms and Locust Curve on the City’s West side. As of this time, AEP has not responded to request for an ETA for power restoration.

The weather and power outages has prompted some local organizations to open their doors for warmth. The Reverend Deacon Rose Anne Lonsway of Saint Peters Episcopal Church opened their doors around 9 am this morning. Lonsway said the Church will be open to about 4 or 5 pm tonight. She said that “We are heppy to help our community.” Families are asked to bring their own food, drink, and entertainment. She also said WiFi  is available.

AEP Ohio website shows zero power outages for the Delaware County area.

Update 1/6/14 1:00 pm.

DelawareO readers in Westfield, Locust Curve, and Troy Farms sub divisions are reporting new outages. Reader reports that AEP advises power restoration ETA to be 4:39 pm. AEP Ohio Website reports 661 customers with out power in Delaware County Ohio area.

AEP Website reports 1118 customers in Delaware County with out power. Locations include Westfield, Locust Curve, and Troy Farms in the city of Delaware. DelawareO Readers have reported a time of 4:30 pm as an ETA of power restoration.

Addtional reports of SR 315 near Powell, areas in Orange Township, and Lewis Center are also experiencing outages. The Orange Branch of the Delaware County District Library closed due to a reported an outage. This location was used as a warming station.  No reports of an ETA for power restoration..

Delaware County Emergency Management Agency is working with AEP and Red Cross regarding power situation. Details to follow.

Saint Peters Episcopal Church: 9 to 5 pm., 45 W. Winter Street between Andrews House and Willis. Plase use red front door, green ground door, or white doors in the parking lot. Per Lonsway “Come in and make yourself welcome.

Mingo Park facility: The City of Delaware has opened up Mingo for the time being for refuge. No other details at this time.

Delaware County District Library: DCDL is open during normal hours and is welcoming those who need to warm up its branches. The Ostarander Branch is closed on Mondays.  Covered drinks are welcomed, Orange Township and the main branch on E Winter Street have Cafe’s to eat in. Also, all amenities are available including WiFi, electrical plugs, public computers, and all books and magazines you can read. (Note: Orange Township branch is closed due to power outage).
