LEWIS CENTER, Ohio — The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says the 15-year-old driver of a stolen car was caught after a search overnight.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident started as a traffic stop around 12:34 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Owenfield Drive and Hidden Ravines in Lewis Center. That’s in the area of Orange Road and U.S. 23.
Investigators say the 15-year-old was driving a car that was reported stolen in Columbus. During the stop, deputies say the driver ran away and hid in a wooded area about 1/4 mile away from where the car was stopped. He was taken into custody around 2:30 a.m.
A 14-year-old passenger was also taken into custody.
A Columbus Police helicopter helped with the search.
The sheriff’s office says he was arrested without further incident.
