SUNBURY, Ohio — The Cracker Barrel along U.S. 36/S.R. 37 in Berkshire Township, near Sunbury, could start serving beer, wine, and mixed drinks if voters approve a pair of liquor licenses.
During a May 2, 2023 special election, voters will decide on D-5 and D-6 liquor licenses for the restaurant. A D-5 license allows for the sale of beer, wine mixed beverages and spirituous liquor. The D-6 permit allows for Sunday sales.
The Sunbury location will be the latest central Ohio location to start serving alcohol. Beer and wine are already served at Pickerington and Grove City Cracker Barrel restaurants.
Cracker Barrel began rolling out beer and wine to restaurants across the country in 2020. As of 2022, alcohol was available at more than 500 of the chain’s 665 stores.
“Cracker Barrel is constantly evolving our menu, while ensuring we keep our everyday value promise front and center,” said Cracker Barrel Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Tate. “Our beer and wine program has been extremely popular, and we’re excited to expand our beverage offerings with new wine and cocktails along with other seasonal treats so guests can enjoy a variety of options to pair with our delicious, craveable entrées.”
Drink options at Cracker Barrel include mimosas, canned and bottled beer, Jack Daniel’s Lynchburg Lemonade, several varieties of wine, and seasonal options.
The issue will be decided by voters in Berkshire Township Precinct 3. That precinct has nearly 900 registered voters, as of the November 2022 General Election.
