DELAWARE, Ohio — The Delaware County Republican Party’s Central Committee will soon vote on their recommendation to serve the remainder of Rep. Kris Jordan’s term.
Rep. Jordan, who represented Ohio’s 60th District, died suddenly on Feb. 25.
According to Ohio Revised Code, the political party from which the vacancy occurs will replace the seat by a vote of the members of the party in the House of Representatives. The person appointed must live in the district.
While House Republicans will ultimately appoint Jordan’s replacement, the Delaware County Republican Party will recommend a candidate.
As of Friday, March 10, the Central Committee is considering the following people for recommendation:
- Janine Baker – Real Estate agent and former candidate for Delaware City School Board
- Brian Lorenz – Mayor of Powell
- Jessica Gemperline – Attorney
- Adam Headlee – Manager of State Government Affairs at Clean Fuels Ohio
- Tyler Herrmann – General Counsel at Ohio Department of Health
- Sarah JanTausch – Former Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board member
- Lisa Keller – Former Delaware City Council member
- Pat Manley – Former candidate for Ohio House of Representatives
- Sam Gedert
The person appointed by House Republicans will serve for the remainder of Jordan’s term.
“The Delaware County Republican Party leadership believes it is important to identify our strongest candidates to continue the dedication of Representative Jordan to working for the betterment of Delaware County and their residents,” the party said on its website.
Members of Central Committee will vote to recommend a candidate at a special meeting scheduled for 7:00 pm on April 13, 2023, at Northgate Church, 51 Fourwinds Dr., Sunbury.
