DELAWARE, Ohio — A Delaware woman is facing a felony charge from a case where a pedestrian was hit by a car.
Jayla S. Sims, 40, was indicted by a Delaware County grand jury on a charge of failure to stop after an accident. That’s a fifth-degree felony.
According to a Delaware crash report, it happened around 9:20 p.m. on November 23, 2022 at the intersection of East William Street and Lake Street. Police say Sims originally said she was driving east on William Street when someone threw a rock from a bridge, causing damage to her windshield, driver’s side headlight and hood. She went home and called police to report a rock being thrown.
Police later determined the ‘rock’ was a 54-year-old man who was walking through the River St. intersection. The man was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Arraignment for the case is scheduled for May 5.
