DELAWARE, Ohio — Expect lane closures on U.S. 23 near the Delaware Walmart as the city and ODOT begin a project to build a raised median.
The city announced that work begins this week on the median project at U.S. 23 and Hull Drive.

The goal of the project is to construct a raised median at the intersection, as well as lengthen the existing right turn lane.
Daily lane closures on US-23 will occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as work progresses. The median will be closed for the project duration on May 8. A single lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on US-23 during work hours.
The city says the 90-day project will reduce crash rates by modifying the intersection of US 23 and Hull Drive to restrict left turns from Hull Drive onto US 23 north. Left turns into Hull Drive from US 23 N will still be allowed.
According to a traffic study, 17 crashes were reported at this intersection between 2017 and 2019. Of those crashes, there was one fatality and four possible injury collisions
The project is expected to cost $207,000.
