DELAWARE, Ohio — A new restaurant is coming soon along U.S. 23 in the southern portion of Delaware.

A sign placed on the building at 1165 Columbus Pike in Delaware announced that Taqueria Ay Caramba is coming soon to the space. A Facebook page for the new restaurant was created Tuesday.

The restaurant is located along U.S. 23, right next to Taco Bell, in the parking lot for the shopping center that includes Goodwill and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Originally a Long John Silver’s, the building was home to Freddy’s Street Food for several years. Freddy’s served Italian and Greek items such as wraps, pasta bowls, chopped salads, and gyros.

Freddy’s announced its sudden closure in February:

Dear The Town of Delaware,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our restaurant. We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to everyone in this town and community for their incredible support over the years.
We have been blessed with the opportunity to serve amazing food to wonderful people, but unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are no longer able to continue operating.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our loyal customers, employees, partners, and suppliers who have been an integral part of our success. Your unwavering support, encouragement, and patronage have meant the world to us, and we could not have achieved all that we did without you. (Especially during Covid, The people of Delaware truly understands what it means to support a small business)

As we bid farewell to our beloved restaurant, we are excited to announce that new tenants will be taking over our space. They are a team of passionate and talented individuals who share our commitment to providing exceptional service and quality.

We ask that you extend to them the same warm welcome and support that you have given us over the years. We are confident that they will bring a fresh perspective and energy to this space, and we know that they will continue to make this town proud.

We have loved being a part of this town and community and will always cherish the memories and relationships we have formed. We will miss serving you, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your kindness and generosity.

While our journey as a restaurant may be coming to an end, we look forward to what the future holds and the possibility of continuing to serve this wonderful community in new and exciting ways.

Thank you again for your support, understanding, and love.

Sincerely,
Freddy’s Street Food

The timeline for the opening of the new restaurant has not been announced.
