Delaware County, Ohio – The Citizens Sheriff Academy (CSA) of Delaware County is currently accepting applications for its fall 2023 class. The CSA aims to foster stronger community relationships by providing education, shadowing opportunities, and hands-on learning experiences. Graduates of the program will have the option to volunteer at various community events organized by the Sheriff’s Office, contributing to efforts such as the Delaware County Fair Sheriff’s educational initiatives and safety mock drills.
The 11-week-long program, exclusively available to Delaware County residents, will be held annually during the fall. Interested individuals are required to submit their applications by June 30th, the deadline for applying to the program. Successful applicants must pass a local background check before they can participate.
All CSA sessions will be conducted by knowledgeable law enforcement professionals. The weekly sessions are scheduled on Tuesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm. Locations will vary and include venues such as the jail, dispatch center, Patrol south sub-station, and more. Accepted candidates will receive a comprehensive class syllabus, containing information about session topics, dates, and locations, among other details.
Feedback from past participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Jessica DePierro Harris, in a comment on the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office announcement, said, “Highly recommend this experience, it was great!”
