Delaware County residents can expect some temporary road closures and disruptions in the coming weeks as several construction projects get underway. The roadwork, aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing safety, will impact various areas within the county. Here is an overview of the upcoming road closures:
- Russell Road in Concord & Scioto Townships: Starting from June 19, 2023, until July 1, 2023, a section of Russell Road between Calhoun Road and Penn Road will be closed for shoulder widening and resurfacing. The improvements will enhance the road’s capacity and provide a smoother driving experience for motorists in the area.
- Red Bank Road in Genoa Township: Construction work is scheduled to take place on Red Bank Road from June 19, 2023, to July 6, 2023. The project will involve shoulder paving and resurfacing, aiming to enhance safety and prolong the road’s lifespan.
- Montgomery Road in Harlem Township: From June 26, 2023, to July 6, 2023, a portion of Montgomery Road between Center Village Road and County Line Road will be closed. The closure is necessary for a culvert replacement, ensuring the infrastructure remains in good condition and can effectively manage water flow.
- US 36 and Ohio 37 Pavement Repairs: Pavement repairs will be conducted on sections of US 36 and Ohio 37 between June 19, 2023, and July 28, 2023. Daily lane closures will be implemented from 9 am to 3 pm to facilitate the repairs. However, traffic will be maintained with the assistance of flaggers, minimizing the impact on commuters.
Specifically, the repairs will commence on US 36 (William Street) between Houk Road and Toledo Street during the week of June 19, followed by work on Ohio 37 (Central Avenue) from Houk Road east to the CSX overpass. Lastly, repairs will be carried out on US 36 between Toledo Street and Lake Street.
The Delaware County Department of Transportation advises residents and commuters to plan their routes accordingly and allow for additional travel time during the construction period. Motorists are urged to exercise caution while driving through the affected areas, obey posted speed limits, and follow detour signs when provided.
We will update road closures and opening as they happen.
