SUNBURY, Ohio — The driver of a stolen Kia managed to get away Tuesday morning in a chase that took Sunbury Police through Delaware and Franklin Counties.

According to dispatch logs, it started just before 2 a.m. on June 27 in the area of S. Miller Drive and State Route 3. An officer reported getting behind a 2019 Kia Sorento and observing several marked lanes violations.
After running the license plate, police determined the car had been reported stolen. When police tried to pull the car over, the driver fled and the pursuit started.
The chase proceeded south on State Route 3 at speeds over 100mph. It then went west on Polaris Parkway, then onto Interstate 71 South. The pursuit was called off as the Kia was traveling 115mph in the area of 17th Avenue.
The Columbus police helicopter and Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit were unavailable to assist.
