DELAWARE, Ohio — A 25-year-old Delaware resident is being held without bail, accused of shooting and killing his parents.
Mohamed Lamin Kandeh was arrested Monday on Maloney Road near McCurdy Road. Kandeh is charged with the murders of his parents, Mohamed A Kandeh and Bintu Kandeh, whose bodies were discovered in their Bristol Drive home on Saturday, September 3, 2023, by Delaware Police.

At 3:00 PM on Saturday, officers were called to the residence after two family members failed to appear for a scheduled meeting. Upon entering the home, police discovered the two deceased adults, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities quickly requested assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Delaware County Coroner’s Office, and Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office for the initial investigation.
A warrant was filed in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas for Kandeh’s arrest. He is currently charged with murder.
Authorities say that Kandeh was apprehended with a firearm and ammunition that match evidence from the crime scene, bolstering the case against him.
Kandeh is being held without bond pending a hearing Friday. The state will argue that Kandeh poses a “substantial risk of serious physical harm to individuals and the community,” suggesting that no conditions of release would ensure public safety. Kandeh has a known history of violence. He recently pleaded guilty in Delaware Municipal Court to a reduced charge in an incident where he pointed a gun at his father, Mohamed A Kandeh. Two firearms were confiscated by law enforcement at that time.
On February 25, 2021, Kandeh also pleaded guilty to “improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle,” a misdemeanor of the fourth degree, in Crawford County Municipal Court. He was also found guilty of assault in a separate incident and is still on probation in Crawford County for that offense.
