A man was hospitalized with a brain injury after an assault at a Speedway gas station in Delaware.
It happened around 9:17 a.m. on December 28 at the Speedway at 590 W. Central Avenue, near Grady Memorial Hospital.
According to court records, Lowell T. Maxwell, 52, is accused of shoving another man to the ground, causing the man to hit his head. Police said Maxwell then immediately left the store and drove off.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where police say he was found to have a brain injury. He was then taken to a Columbus hospital for further treatment.
According to a police report, the entire incident was originally believed to be a medical incident, or a slip and fall.
Maxwell was arrested and charged with felonious assault. He remains in the Delaware County Jail on a $25,000 bond. If he makes bond, he will be required to wear and ankle monitor. A judge also signed a protection order, mandating that Maxwell stay away from the victim in the case.
