Recently on a late Tuesday night I had some time to kill and was looking for a decent cup of coffee downtown Delaware, that’s when I walked up on Restoration Brew Worx. Thinking that I’d be out of luck, I asked for a cup of coffee. To my surprise, Hillary said she would be more than happy to brew me up a pot.

This was really ironic seeing that this brewpub, which opened in May 2015, is known for its craft beer. Regardless, I’m sure the coffee was straight from the store shelf, and still satisfied my desire for a cup of Joe.

The next week, remembering how well I was treated for a cup of coffee at a craft beer house, I remembered that they had a menu and decided I wanted to try the chicken BLT sandwich. Enjoying many chicken sandwiches with bacon all I can say is “WOW! I was in for a treat!
The sandwich came with a juicy giant crispy chicken fillet, large strips of bacon, garlic aioli sauce, with tomato and lettuce served on a ciabatta bun. I had them customize my order by adding onion, an option they were happy to accommodate me with.
The house-made potato chips came with French onion dip, also house-made and were very crunchy and cooked to perfection.

I would be remiss not to mention that they have multiple house-made beers. I have not tried any of their alcoholic offerings since I’ve been sober since September 2002. From what I see their selection is quite eclectic, and from what many patrons tell me, they perfectly hit the spot for beer connoisseurs.
The pub-style ambiance and inviting atmosphere at Restoration Brew Worx make it a great place to spend an evening. Amenities include large screen TVs, and the staff is fantastic. Part of the unique charm of the place is the subtle references to Rodney Dangerfield’s “triple lindy” from the iconic 1986 movie “Back to School,” where he plays the character Thornton Melon.
When I asked the staff what the tie-in was with the “triple lindy,” they told me it’s in reference to Belgian Style Tripel. The staff also shared with me about a chance encounter they had with Terry Farrell, who played “Valerie Desmond” in “Back to School,” when she stopped in after seeing the new logo T-shirts in the window. She was visiting Ohio Wesleyan University and passing through downtown. A cool story for a little restaurant in downtown Delaware if I may say.

Really wanting to learn more about one of my new favorite restaurants in town I had to go to their website which is chock full of information. Things I found out is “We make all of our own beer in-house on a 10 BBL – 3 vessel brewing system. We have 3-10bbl fermenting vessels that are usually full allowing the yeast to perform its magical job. We also have 5-10BBL single walled tanks that function as secondary fermenters, serving vessels, and brite tanks, just whatever we need that day. We turn valves, pump wort, and produce fresh beer served at our brew pub and in kegs at select accounts around the Central Ohio region. We feature fresh made pub food to pair with our hand-made craft beer. Executive Chef Matthew ‘Pepper’ Michael and his culinary staff even make our own ketchup.”
Restoration Brew Worx is located at 25 N Sandusky St, Delaware, OH 43015 and is open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The Facebook fan page says they have standing events like “Music Bingo” on Wednesdays and “RBW Kahoot Trivia” on Thursdays if you’re looking for something to do with the gang.

The verdict? I give restoration Brew Works a 5 Star recommendation! My meal came out to around $18 with coffee, a steal since I was able to get my food made the way I wanted, I walked away full, and the food was just simply delicious!
You would not go wrong by having dinner at Restoration Brew Worx.
