Delaware, Ohio – Changes are coming to parking in downtown Delaware, including an increase in rates that we pay at the meter, or on the Passport Parking mobile app. A little known hack is the City of Delaware offers a monthly parking pass for parking at the 10 hour meters. The passes currently cost $20 per month for parking at green meters in City Parking Lot #4 and $25 per month for parking at any green meter in the city. To obtain a pass, individuals must visit the police department located at 70 North Union Street. The purchase of a monthly parking pass could result in significant cost savings for those who frequently park at meters in downtown Delaware.
Visitors to downtown Delaware can still pay for parking at meters using coins or cards. Currently, rates are set at $.12 for 12 minutes, $.10 for 24 minutes, and $.25 for an hour. Meters are color-coded based on the maximum amount of time allowed for parking, red meters allowing for 24 minutes of parking, grey meters allowing for three hours of parking, and green meters allowing for up to 10 hours of parking.
Free parking options are available for 2 hours downtown, and on the outskirts of downtown, with 10-hour spots. There are intermittent 30-minute and 15-minute spots in front of some shops and restaurants.
