Sunbury Village Invites Bids for Renovation
SUNBURY, Ohio (AP) — The City of Sunbury, located in Delaware County, has announced an open call for sealed bids to renovate its Municipal and Police Department buildings. The project aims to enhance the facilities and improve operational efficiency. Interested contractors are invited to submit their bids by June 29, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the City Municipal Building, 9 E. Granville Street, Sunbury, OH 43074. Following the deadline, the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Main Conference Room of the Sunbury Municipal Building.
The renovation project, known as the Base Bid Project, encompasses two main components. Firstly, the existing City of Sunbury Municipal Building’s first floor, located at 9 E. Granville Street, will undergo a comprehensive renovation. Additionally, the project includes the conversion of a separate building situated at 220 N. Columbus Street into the new Sunbury Police Department location. The aim is to provide improved facilities for the police department to carry out their vital community-oriented services.
To obtain electronic bidding documents and participate in the bidding process, contractors must be registered plan holders with ms consultants, inc., the project’s Issuing Office. Interested parties can request the bidding documents via email from Marlene Mort at [email protected]. Please note that hard copies of the documents will not be available at the Issuing Office. It is recommended to attend the Pre-Bid Meeting, scheduled for June 14, 2023, at 10:00 am, at the Municipal Building (9 E. Granville St., Sunbury, OH 43074), to gain valuable insights and clarifications regarding the project requirements.
The City of Sunbury emphasizes that bidders must submit their bids using the provided blanks in the Project Manual. Each bid should consist of one original copy and one additional copy. Furthermore, all bids must be accompanied by a Bid Guaranty made payable to the City of Sunbury, OH. Contractors can provide the Bid Guaranty in the form of a Bid Guaranty/Contract Bond, covering the full bid amount, or opt for a certified check, cashier’s check, or letter of credit, which should be at least ten percent (10%) of the total bid amount.
In adherence to the State of Ohio regulations, all individuals employed by the Contractor and any Sub-Contractor engaged in the project must receive the prevailing wage as mandated by the State. This requirement ensures fair compensation for all workers involved, regardless of their contractual relationship. The City of Sunbury also encourages contractors and sub-contractors to prioritize Ohio products, materials, services, and labor during the implementation of the project. Compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Requirements, as outlined in the Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, along with the Governor’s Executive Order of 1972 and the Governor’s Executive Order 84-9, is mandatory.
As part of the bidding process, contractors are required to include a current copy of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Certificate of Compliance, serving as evidence of their certification by the State of Ohio. Additionally, the Non-Collusion Affidavit of Prime Bidders must be completed and submitted along with the bids.
The project also incorporates the use of domestic steel, following the requirements specified in Section 153.011 of the Revised Code. Contractors can obtain copies of Section 153.011 from any of the Department of Administrative Services’ offices.
