DELAWARE, Ohio – Hold on to your hats because Frito-Lay has made a massive purchase and secured the naming rights to Delaware, Ohio!

The City will now be known as “Delaware Ohio, presented by Frito-Lay,” with the Frito-Lay logo incorporated into all city letterhead, stationary, city vehicles, including police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks, and all city signs.
A signing and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for later today at noon. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the “Welcome to Delaware” sign located at “The Point” on the east side of Delaware. This will also be the kickoff to the Point Project reconstruction. The new signs for “Welcome to Delaware presented by Frito-Lay” will be unveiled after the signing of the contract, and prior to the ribbon cutting
Representing the City of Delaware will be City Manager Tom Homan, while Steven Williams, the CEO of PepsiCo Foods North America, which is the parent company to Frito-Lay, will represent Frito-Lay.

Prior to signing, both parties will indulge in ceremonial bags of Cheetos and leaving cheesy thumbprint to seal the deal. All members of City Council, and select dignitaries are expected to attend as well.
Mayor Carolyn Riggle is ecstatic about the deal saying “We’re excited to exclusively offer City employees their favorite Frito-Lay snacks and Pepsi drinks. I really cannot wait to see what the fire department does on Taco Tuesday incorporating Fritos into their walking taco recipes.”
Sean Hughes, the Economic Director of Delaware, was equally enthusiastic and said, “This tasty agreement will bring a significant financial boost to our city. Every restaurant in town will be converted to either a Taco Bell or KFC, and selling only Pepsi products, this will put Delaware Ohio, presented by Frito-Lay, on the map bringing in new visitors. There is nothing else like it anywhere in the United States!”
Leanne Oliver, the senior VP and General Counsel of Frito-Lay North America, spoke about the unique partnership and said, “We’re excited to be part of this fun and innovative partnership with Delaware Ohio, presented by Frito-Lay. We crunched the numbers, this deal represents a great opportunity for us to showcase our products and connect with the community in a meaningful way seeing that we’ve never bought the naming rights to an entire community before. Delaware, Ohio presented by Frito-Lay just seems to be the perfect fit like Tostito chips and salsa!”
The naming rights doesn’t come without City oversight though, “The City Engineer’s Department will oversee the implementation of the new Frito-Lay signage throughout Delaware presented by Frito-Lay. We will ensure that all signs meet our engineering design flavor while still maintaining the fun and exciting brand identity that Frito-Lay brings to the town, no one is salty about this.” said City Engineer Bill Ferrigno.
So get ready to taste the excitement of Delaware Ohio, presented by Frito-Lay! And don’t forget, this is just a lighthearted story that we made up to celebrate April 1st! Although we did use real names of Delaware City officials, and leadership members of Frito-Lay, nothing else in this story is true and is posted for entertainment.
